New Logo

I have been working on many sketches and logo rework for the past few weeks and this is what I came up with. The name of my personal brand is Doc design. Doc is my nickname and it is the first three letters of my last name. The shapes in the logo that spell out Doc is inspired by DNA model images.  I chose red and blue to symbolize strength and honesty in my design. I used the Didot font because I think it worked well with its modern thin to thick strokes as seen in the shapes in the logo. With this logo I plan on leaving my mark on the world. I look forward to your feedback.

  1. Jamaal - it’s good to read about the concept behind the logo design. However, I’m thinking that you have abstracted it so much, we really are loosing the individual DOC letters… which is just fine. It was a starting point for you. I have some questions:

    1. Do you think your name is in high enough contrast to the busy, bright icon shape? I’m not sure it is. How can you make your name more readable? Pull it down, off of the icon, or place that icon into a shape, add a background, and use your name in white on top of it, or pull your name above the icon… or… lots of options. But know that the viewer will probably see “DESIGN” first, then the blue/red of the icon shapes, and then only some of the letters in your name. I think this is backwards, instead of “telling” us you DESIGN… show us you design. We can come to that last.

    2. The color scheme is quite patriotic - you are aware of this, yes? Nothing wrong with it, as long as you are aware of the subtle message that sends.
