I like the visual for this PSA, but would you consider changing the color of the background to white maybe so that the gun stands out more versus the black background? the gun seems to get lost in the black background. And change the white font to black and keep the orange in the selected text. And you can put a black boarder to bring in the message together. I overall like it though has a strong message.
Yes, you do have a contrast issue here... since the point of this ad is that the child is holding a GUN!! It must be highlighted, in large contrast to the colors behind it. So think about the suggestions left by Jamaal, or think about taking the image and the background into photoshop, and find a way to highlight that gun.
